Till Faith Do Us Part

 

We had a read of 'Till Faith Do Us Part' by Ms Naomi Schaefer Riley, in her book she talks about some of the issues that may rise in interfaith relationships. Are you in an interfaith relationship or have any questions regarding it? Have a read through her book;

 

If you don't want to read the book, here are some of the things we came across;

 

The wedding – The wedding ceremony itself holds such importance. There might always be a debate about which religious leader will conduct the ceremony.

 

Family – There is always a fear of losing one's family and friends.

 

Birth Control – In different religions there are different views on the birth control. Therefore, when in an interfaith relationship this will be an issue that needs to be addressed.  Similarly, abortion is also another may bring up differences.

 

Belief In God – ‘Which God to believe/worship?’ is an important issue interfaith couples grapple with.

 

The faith of your children – This is an issue that is close to every interfaith couple, there will always be a question of the faith the children will be raised with.

 

Divorce – The option of getting a divorce is forbidden in religions such as Roman Catholicism, however in some divorce is permitted given the situation.
